Classic Klondike Solitaire
This is classic Solitaire, the Klondike game many people first played on a family computer, and the card game often called Patience in the UK. Deal as many games as you like, free, with no download or sign-up.
The cards are large and clear, you can play in full screen, and undo and redo are free and unlimited. If you get stuck, ask for a hint. Your game is saved on your device after every move, so you can stop and carry on later on a phone, tablet or computer.
How to play
- Choose Draw 1 (one card at a time, the easier game) or Draw 3 (three at a time, the harder game), then deal.
- Build the seven columns downwards in alternating colours, for example a red 6 on a black 7. You can move a run of face-up cards together.
- Only a King, or a run that starts with a King, can go into an empty column.
- When you run out of moves, tap the stock to turn over new cards.
- Move cards to the four foundations, from Ace up to King in one suit. Get all 52 cards there to win.
Tips
- Turn over the face-down cards in the columns first. Every hidden card you uncover gives you more choices.
- Do not rush to empty a column unless you have a King ready to move into it.
- Before playing from the stock, check whether a move between columns would free a hidden card.
- Keep low cards of both colours in the columns for a while. Sending every card to the foundations straight away can leave nowhere to build.
- In Draw 3 the order of the stock changes as you play, so it can be worth playing a card just to reach the one below it.
- Undo costs nothing. Use it to test an idea and step back if it leads nowhere.

Questions and answers
- Is this Klondike Solitaire?
- Yes. This is Klondike, the most popular form of Solitaire, with seven columns, a stock pile and four foundations built from Ace to King.
- What is the difference between Draw 1 and Draw 3?
- Draw 1, also called Turn 1, turns over one card from the stock at a time, which makes the game easier. Draw 3, also called Turn 3, turns over three cards at a time and only the top one can be played, which makes it harder.
- Can every game be won?
- No. Some Klondike deals cannot be won, even with perfect play. Undo is free, so you can try another way. The Daily Solitaire deal is checked in advance and can always be won in both Draw 1 and Draw 3.
- Is Solitaire the same as Patience?
- Yes. In the UK, Solitaire card games are often called Patience, and Klondike is the best-known one.
- Is my game saved?
- Yes. The cards, your undo history, moves, hints and time are saved in this browser after every move, so you can close the page and continue later. Best times and games won are kept for Draw 1 and Draw 3.
- How is my time counted?
- The timer starts with your first move and pauses when you switch to another tab. When you win you see your time, moves and hints used, and your best time is kept for each draw mode. There is no points score.
